Director General of the Safe Environments Directorate at Health Canada where he is responsible for implementing Canada’s chemicals management system for new and existing substances from a human health perspective. Also included in his current mandate are drinking water standards, air quality standards, climate change adaptation, contaminated sites, and environmental site assessments from the perspective of impacts on human health.
Prior to joining Health Canada, David spent 17 years at Environment Canada where he delivered on a range of topics related to chemicals risk assessment. His last five years at Environment Canada were as Director General of the Science and Risk Assessment Directorate where he was responsible for delivering on risk assessments for new and existing substances, Canada’s PRTR, as well as Canada’s National Inventory Report on GHG emissions.
